You’ll join the Team USA SumUp Analytics group — a small, distributed team dedicated to building the data foundations that power SumUp’s US operations. You will work in a lean, high-impact environment where your work is visible, your contributions matter, and no two days look the same. Together, we’re tackling complex data challenges, designing reliable infrastructure, and transforming raw data into insights that shape business decisions.

We’re now looking for a hands-on, technically curious Analytics Engineer to help us build new data infrastructure, streamline reporting, and bring structure to complex datasets.

What you'll do

  • Participate in the day-to-day support rotation, handling ad hoc data requests, troubleshooting reporting issues, and diagnosing data pipeline problems across the business
  • Build, maintain, and document dbt models in a Snowflake environment
  • Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards and data sources for stakeholders across the company
  • Help to modernize our data infrastructure, with the goal of enabling business stakeholders to self-serve with the help of AI-assisted tooling
  • Manage stakeholder relationships independently — gathering requirements, setting expectations, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences

You'll be great for this role if you

  • Have experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst, BI Analyst or similar role working with complex datasets.
  • Possess 1-4 years of applicable experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, related field or equivalent experience
  • Write advanced SQL in your sleep and know your way around Snowflake and dbt Core
  • Build and maintain Tableau dashboards that stakeholders actually trust
  • Manage stakeholders confidently — gathering requirements, setting expectations, and pushing back when a request isn't clearly defined
  • Figure things out independently using available resources before escalating
  • Stay calm and effective in fast-moving, imperfect environments
  • Sweat the small stuff when it comes to data quality
  • Collaborative, approachable, and easy to work with

Bonus points

  • Worked with self-serve or semantic data layers
  • Fluent in AI-assisted data tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor
  • Contributed to an AI agent knowledge base or done prompt engineering work
  • Understand the limitations of LLMs when applied to data problems
  • Thrived in a lean or startup-style team before
  • Worked with Salesforce

Why you should join SumUp

  • You’ll play a key role in building the data infrastructure that supports SumUp’s US operations from the ground up.
  • You’ll be part of a global company that values autonomy, learning and meaningful impact over bureaucracy.
  • You’ll have opportunities to grow your technical skills in data architecture, automation, and reporting at scale.
  • You’ll work in a supportive environment that values trust, transparency and continuous improvement.
